Military-Connected Student Groups
With an active student-veteran and military-connected population on campus, AU has a number of opportunities for veterans, active-military, and dependents to get involved. Take a look at the several options below to see if any might be a good fit. From community service events and campus presentations to social gatherings, you'll always find a way to stay engaged while at AU. In addition to military-focused organizations, you are encouraged to get involved in the diverse array of student organizations on campus. These student organizations are supported by the staff in the University Center/Student Activities.
ÌýWe’re a chapter of Student Veterans of America and the only campus club focused entirely on serving AU’s military-connected students, including undergraduate and graduate students who are actively serving, reservists, veterans, retirees, dependents, patriots, or ROTC cadets.
The Civil-Military Society (Civ-Mil) is a chapter of the Student Veterans of America (SVA) organization. Our mission is to support American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) students who either are or have been in the military or civil service, who seek to join the military, or who identify as military-connected—such as spouses, children, friends, contractors, scholars, and civilians. Civ-Mil augments AUWCL’s capable services by advocating for our members, providing peer mentorship, leveraging relevant services, and hosting networking opportunities for a variety of legal interests. If you’re interested in learning more about the organization, or just want to talk about law school in general, please reach out to civmil@wcl.american.edu. We also recommend connecting with us on Instagram @wcl_veterans and LinkedIn@ Washington College of Law Civil Military Society for updates on upcoming events.Ìý
