Various 1-credit Skills Institutes are offered and updated each semester. Online students may take Skills Institutes through your online platform, which require full- or half-day long live session participation and typically take place over a one- or two-weekend period with very little asynchronous content. Alternatively, online students may take Skills Institutes on campus if your schedule permits you to be present during the two- or three-day intensive workshops. Please note that up to three Skills Institutes, at 1-credit each, may count toward the required elective credits for online students.
While all Skills Institutes offerings are listed together, online students should narrow your search to the following SIS 730 Skills Institutes in International Affairs sections:
Registration for these Skills Institutes occurs throughout the semester. Since there is a different add/drop period associated with Skills Institutes, they follow a non-traditional refund rate table. Students who are interested in signing up or want to learn more about 1-credit options should contact their academic advisor at IRonlineAdvising@american.edu.
