American Library Association
The is the oldest and largest library association in the world which promotes libraries and library education globally. Their stated mission is, “To provide leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.â€
Coalition for Networked Information
The promotes the use of information technology to advance scholarship and education. Membership keeps the AU community up to date on the latest technologies and applications in scholarly communication, e-science, and digital humanities.
CCUMC
The (CCUMC), strives to provide a forum for information exchange to the providers of media content and academic technology in higher education.
Council on Library and Information Resources
The (CLIR) is a nonprofit organization working to enhance research, teaching, and learning environments. CLIR works with its partners to support interdisciplinary original research, digitization, new pedagogies, metadata, publishing, and more.
DataCite
is a global non-profit organization that provides persistent identifiers (DOIs) for research data and other research outputs. Through this membership, AU Library is able to create DOIs for AU scholars.
NISO
The (NISO) is a nonprofit organization that identifies, develops, maintains, and publishes technical standards to manage information. They work to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve the user experience.
ORCID
, which stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID, is a global, not-for-profit organization that provides unique, persistent identifiers free of charge to researchers.
Qualitative Data Repository
The (QDR) is a dedicated archive for storing and sharing digital data (and accompanying documentation) generated or collected through qualitative and multi-method research in the social sciences. AU Library’s membership supports a fixed number of annual "data projects" (consultation, deposits and subsequent curation) with the QDR on behalf of researchers at AU.
SPARC
The (SPARC) is a non-profit advocacy organization that supports systems for research and education that are open by default and equitable by design. They focus on driving policy change, supporting member action, and cultivating communities that advance a shared vision of knowledge as a public good.
UCGIS
The (UCGIS) is a non-profit organization that creates and supports communities of practice for GIScience research, education, and policy endeavors in higher education and with allied institutions.
WRLC
The (WRLC) is a nonprofit that supports university libraries in the Washington, DC area. The WRLC gives the AU community access to resources and expertise from other libraries including Georgetown, George Mason, Gallaudet, Howard, and more.
