Peroxide Formers

Some peroxides can form dangerous explosives upon extended storage. Common examples are diethyl ether, methyl methacrylate, tetrahydrofuran (THF), and secondary alcohols. EH&S has implemented a program for tracking and evaluating all peroxide-forming chemicals in the Hall of Science. If you have any of these chemicals in your laboratory and haven't been contacted by EH&S about tracking and evaluation, please reach out to us!

HazCom Program

Stay safe and informed when working with hazardous materials! American University’s Hazard Communication Program offers tools for identifying and safely handling chemicals along with training aligned with OSHA standards for non-research settings. The program provides resources like a chemical inventory, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and essential guidance for a secure work environment.
