Mr. Gibbons is ITEP Scholar in Residence at the School of Education for 2020-2022 academic years. He has worked in basic education, community development and social justice since the mid 1970s in numerous countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. He specializes in basic and nonformal education, child rights, child development, adult learning processes, training of educators and organizational learning. He holds a Ph.D. from the Fielding Institute in human and organizational development, with a focus on organizational learning processes within educational programs. He is particularly interested in the role learning plays in personal development and social transformation. He has served as program director at Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, associate director at Banyan Tree Foundation, country director and education advisor for Save the Children.
