Book Talk: Gaming Democracy with author and professor Adrienne Massanari

Join the School of Communication for a conversation with PhD alum��Brian Hughes (PERIL) and Professor Adrienne Massanari (SOC/AU Game Lab) on politics, platforms, and play. Massanari will discuss her new book, Gaming Democracy, which examines how far-right activists exploit social media. Learn about the influence of “alt-right” ideologies on online spaces, Silicon Valley's role in fostering toxic environments, and how far-right groups use memes and “metagaming” to build community and incite dissent. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the intersections of internet culture, gaming, and political activism.��
