Stephen Silvia named 2024 LERA Fellow
The Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) named SIS Professor Stephen Silvia an Academic Fellow for 2024 at their annual conference in New York City on June 29. The LERA Fellows designation recognizes scholars and practitioners who have made contributions of unusual distinction to the field and have been in the profession and field for longer than ten years.
Dr. Silvia teaches international economics, international relations and comparative politics at SIS. He researches comparative labor employment relations, and comparative economic policy, with a focus on Germany and the United States. His latest book, The UAW's Southern Gamble, shows how the United Auto Worker's failed campaigns in the South can teach hard-won lessons about challenging the structural and legal roadblocks to union participation and effectively organizing workers within and beyond the auto industry.
LERA is a national association of “professionals interested in all aspects of labor and employment relations network to share ideas and learn about new developments, issues, and practices in the field.”
