Bio
Melissa is a Ph.D. student in American University’s Department of Justice, Law, and Criminology. She received her B.A. in psychology and criminal justice from the University of Delaware in 2022, with minors in domestic violence prevention and services, women and gender studies, and political science.
Her primary research interests include gender-based violence, campus sexual victimization, and legal and policy responses to these issues. Additionally, she has examined the presence of technology-facilitated sexual violence among college populations and help-seeking behaviors of survivors of sexual victimization. Previous research has included topics in policing, focusing on the effects of viewing aggressive police officer-civilian interactions, as well as examining the accessibility of various state benefit programs.
