Bio
Dr. Ariel White serves as the University Physician at the Student Health Center. In this role, she supervises the Advanced Practice Clinicians and nursing staff, while providing primary and subspecialty care to students. Dr. White holds 3 board certifications: Adolescent Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics.
Dr. White completed residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, followed by an Adolescent Medicine Fellowship at Children’s National Hospital in DC. Prior to joining the American University team in early 2021, she served as an attending physician in the Department of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Children’s National, where she still sees patients a few times a month. While at Children’s National, she supervised medical students and residents in a high-volume primary care clinic and was a member the medical arm of a city-wide multidisciplinary team providing services to youth involved in suspected cases of minor sex trafficking. She also worked in the Department of Occupational Health and assisted with the hospital response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has subspecialty training in trauma informed care, sexual and reproductive health, eating disorders, LGBTQ care, and substance abuse, and sits on the board of the DC chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. White grew up in DC, just a few minutes from the AU campus. She enjoys reading, baking, and traveling in her free time.
